The four finalists of Ghana’s Most Beautiful, a TV3 reality show which
seeks to redefine beauty to promote national unity, have begun the
implementation of their projects.

Ruweida, Fanny and Eyram, who emerged the 3rd, 2nd, and 1st runners-up some weeks ago, received their cheques of GH¢2,000, GH¢4,000 and GH¢6,000 respectively. Adoley, who was crowned the winner, was also presented with a cheque of GH¢3,000. She also received a Tata indigo saloon car as her personal car, and a Tata Safari as her ceremonial saloon car.

A few weeks after receiving the cheques, The Saturday Statesman went round to interview the four finalists to find out how far they had gone with their proposed projects.

First runner-up Eyram Dotse, from the Volta Region, had this to say, "I’ve already started with mine. First, I went to Keta School in my home town to deliver a speech on sanitation so as to create awareness. From there, I moved to the Keta Hospital, where I donated some treated mosquito nets and other things to help them. However, I’m yet to launch my project so I call on all to assist me to proceed because it is all about funds, and without help I can’t accomplish my project”.

Fanny, who emerged the 2nd runner-up said, “As of yet I haven’t done anything but I’ve talked to a couple of chiefs and other traditional rulers by way of  seeking some ideas which would enable me to start something. There is this fisthood 2008 which is coming off in October.  I’ve planned to do something concrete on that occasion.

"Furthermore, I’m also organizing myself to establish a foundation to be known as The Village People’s Foundation. The village might sound unpleasant in one’s ears but it is not mainly for villagers; it is meant for all, and I believe this will spread to very far places and help people see the positive side of culture and not always the fetish side”.

Ruweida Yakubu Sadik, from the Northern Region, is the 3rd runner-up and disclosed this to The Saturday Statesman: “As you are all aware, my project is solely about the eradication of Guinea worm in the Northern Region.

"Last week I traveled to the north and I was cheerfully welcomed by my people. The chiefs also organized a durbar to welcome me, after which I donated some nylon cloth for safe drinking water, and with some sponsorship from TV3, I distributed some (TV3) wrist bands and T-shirts to the people”.

The winner, Adoley from the Greater Accra Region, who pointed out that she had just finished registering her foundation, added, “I now have a registered NGO called the NADO Foundation which will be used to solicit funds to help in the implementation of the Disability Act. I’m also preparing to have a meeting with the Minister for Transportation to assist in getting a bus for the School for the Blind”.
