The much hyped Miss Ghana pageantry, which promised to offer its
audience great entertainment for their money, failed to live up to
expectation.

Apart from Castro a hip-life musician - who mesmerized the audience with his performance, the rest of the artistes billed for the occasion were just a shadow of themselves.

Jane Boateng, a fan, described the performance of NACOREX as "a complete disappointment”. She said, “I have heard of NACOREX and their good stage performance, but what I witnessed was a far cry from their reputation”.

According to her, “the little said about the performance of 5five the better. I asked myself whether this was the same duo who won two awards recently. When you compare their show at the 48th Republic Concert to what they did here [the pageantry], in fact, they are a disgrace to some of us who voted for them during the Ghana Music Awards. If these are our future stars then God help us”.

Another artiste whom some fans expressed disappointment in was Kwaw Kese, (of 'Abodam' fame). To the fans, his dressing was a departure from his usual ‘Abodam' posturing.

In the opinion of Evans Oppong, the event organizers - Sparrow Production - did not help matters by the late start of the event. He observed that the company had become a habitual late programme starter.

Victoria Asare, whom this reporter encountered among the audience, pointed out that this year’s pageant was supposed to be more fun than the previous ones, but “it seems the event organizers did not learn from their previous mistakes”.

 She observed, “They keep bringing KKD as the MC and he talks too much, making the programme boring”. She said too much time was spent on the documentary of the diary and adverts, making the programme more boring.
